Vision Beyond Sight: Exploring the Power of Netra Neti

What is Netra Neti?

Ancient yogic scriptures like the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gheranda Samhita describe six purification techniques known as Shatkarma (Shat = six). These practices are designed to eliminate excess Meda (fat) and Kapha (mucus) from the body to restore balance and promote overall wellness.

The six key purification methods include:

  • Dhauti
  • Basti
  • Neti
  • Trataka
  • Nauli
  • Kapalabhati

Among these, Neti is traditionally used to cleanse the nasal passages using water (Jala Neti) or a thread (Sutra Neti), helping to treat sinus issues, rhinitis, and other Kapha-related imbalances. Though classical texts don’t explicitly describe Jala Neti, it has become a well-accepted practice in yogic detox routines.

In this context, we introduce Netra Neti – a lesser-known but highly effective eye cleansing ritual. It’s a completely natural, chemical-free method that involves using specially crafted Neem Wood Eye Wash Cups to gently clean and refresh the eyes.

Benefits of Practicing Netra Neti

  • Alleviates burning and itching in the eyes
  • Helps prevent irritation and redness
  • Naturally hydrates dry and tired eyes
  • Washes away dust, pollutants, and allergens
  • Reduces eye strain and fatigue
  • Improves blood circulation to the eyes, supporting healing
  • May help lighten dark circles and reduce puffiness
  • Provides relief from headaches caused by eye tension
  • Supports eye muscle strength through simple exercises
  • Ideal for those with long screen exposure (like laptop/TV users), photographers, or people working in visually intense jobs such as embroidery or jewelry-making
  • Offers a cooling, calming effect, especially helpful in hot and dry weather

How to Use Neem Wood Eye Wash Cups for Netra Neti

  1. Prep the Cups: Rinse the Neem Wood Eye Wash Cups thoroughly with clean water to remove any residual wood particles.
  2. Fill the Cup: Use plain, room-temperature water with a few drops of pure, glycerin-free rose water, or follow the guidance of your Ayurvedic practitioner for a medicated rinse.
  3. Application: Place the cup snugly over your eye, tilt your head slightly back (about a 90° angle), and blink gently around 10 times. Then move your eyes in all directions — up, down, left, right, and in circular motions — to fully cleanse the eye surface.
  4. Experience the Calm: The Neem wood material offers anti-bacterial protection and creates a natural shade, helping your eyes rest from external brightness.
  5. After Use: Discard the used liquid, rinse the cup again, and let it air-dry before storing.
